WYPBi14D Course
In 2025, I enrolled in the BUN Picture Book Writing Course at a time when my plate was already full. I was juggling exams and several other responsibilities, and honestly, I wasn’t sure how I would keep up. But I had always wanted to write a picture book, so I decided to give it a try.
What I found was a course that was clear, practical, and encouraging. The daily lessons and writing tasks helped me focus on one essential element of my story at a time. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I simply showed up each day and did the work. Little by little, my story came together. By the end of the course, I had completed my very first picture book manuscript.
One of the things that kept me going was the sense of community. It helped to have another writer on the course, Kemi. Seeing her daily posts on the forum after completing each day’s work encouraged me to keep pushing forward. It felt like having an accountability partner who understood exactly what I was going through.
Even after the course ended, the support didn’t stop. My coach, Ugo, kept sharing submission opportunities and encouraging me to keep writing, revising, and sending my work out into the world. She reminded me to trust the process and to keep believing in my stories.
Then, one evening, she sent me information about the Editor-Writer Mentorship Program, the night before the deadline. I almost didn’t apply. But I did.
I submitted the manuscript I had written during the BUN course, the first picture book manuscript I had ever completed.
When I found out I had been longlisted, I was thrilled. And when I was finally selected for the mentorship, I could hardly believe it.
Looking back now, I realize that enrolling in the BUN Picture Book Writing Course was one of the best decisions I made as a children’s writer. It gave me more than a completed manuscript. It gave me confidence, community, and the courage to pursue opportunities I once thought were beyond my reach.
This is only the beginning of my journey, and I am excited to see where my stories will take me next.

2025 BUN Summer Writing Camp
I had so much fun doing this course! My favourite part was when I got to share my stories and see what other people thought about them. It felt really good to get nice comments and helpful tips to make my writing even better. Now I feel a lot more confident and excited about writing picture books! I learned so much and I’m really proud of how far I’ve come. I would definitely tell my friends to try this course too it’s fun, creative, and super inspiring!

2025 BUN Summer Writing Camp
I enjoyed the whole process of the program, how the meetings were set up, the ideas, the things we did together and learnt. Taking parts to read out my work. The assignments were not bad at all and it was also exciting for me because I looked forward for my assignmentS. I enjoyed our virtual sessions and It helped me to understand better how to become a writer and how to be a creative writer.
