
Ugo Anidi is an award-winning Nigerian author, internationally published children’s book writer, and passionate educator committed to championing African stories for young readers. A former law lecturer with a PhD in Law, Ugo spent over a decade teaching at the university level before transitioning into children’s literature full time.
She holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, USA and has been an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) for over a decade. Ugo is the founder of Books for Umu Ntii (BUN), where she designs and leads premium writing courses that train aspiring African writers in the art and craft of picture book storytelling.
Her works include Half Hour Hara and the Case of the Broken Eggs (shortlisted for the 2024 CANEX Prize for Publishing), I Do Not Like Saturdays (2027), Unforgettable: The Pendant Mask of Benin (2027), and Melodies – winner of the 2024 SCBWI Work-in-Progress Award.
Blending academic depth, creative excellence, and cultural authenticity, Ugo is widely regarded as one of the most trusted picture book writing instructors on the continent.
